One of my lavender Orpington hens has been sneezing for the past new days, it’s almost like she has the hiccups. As soon as I noticed it I started the whole flock including her on CORID. It has been 3 days now and she still has them. Is there something else I need to use? I am thinking about taking her to the vet tomorrow, she is my favorite one out of the whole flock. But I don’t want a $200 vet bill (that’s what the vet here charges to see a chicken 🥴) if there’s an alternative…. Other than ☠️.

Corid is a medicine used to treat coccidiosis, not respiratory diseases. Sneezing or snicking can be a sign of irritation from dust, ammonia odors inside the coop from droppings, or other irritant. If it is occuring every few minutes, and there is mucus in the nostrils or from the beak, it may be from a respiratory disease. Do you see any mucus or any facial swelling or bubbles in the eye? Mild respiratory symptoms could be from a virus called infectious bronchitis, but usually others will have symptoms as well. If you see any of the other additional symptoms, then MG (mycoplasma gallisepticum) might be an issue.

No, unfortunately there’s no other symptoms other than loose stool. She’s running around acting normally other than that which is what has confused me the most.
I change shavings twice a week. There’s never a smell or anything in our coop.
If it is MG what would I use to clear it up?

Unless you see bubbles in one eye, watery eyes, nasal drainage, or noisy breathing, I would not suspect MG. If others start sneezing, then I would suspect infectious bronchitis. IB does not respond to antibiotics. MG symptoms can respond to Tylosin or Tylan, and a few others.

So she does have sneezing and loose droppings? I would just keep an eye on her and the others. All chickens will sneeze now and then when they are eating chicken feed or get dust in their nostrils. Check her nostrils to make sure they are clean and clear. If you see others sneezing, it might be the virus. Usually when they are active and running around, if they have a problem, it usually isn’t serious.
