So, does a chicken lay more than 1 per day???

Howdy! Stupid question...

Do some chickens lay more than 1 egg per day?? And is it possible to have a chicken prone to laying a double yoke egg??

We either have a couple girls laying doubles or one girl who does it often...not complaining, they are cool!!

Chickens lay 1 egg per day.

In my experience..some hens will lay double yolks but it is nothing something that continues for any long period of time and this occurance is sporadic.

Some chickens have been known to lay more than one egg per day and some chickens have been known to seem to lay more double yokers.

My hens lay just once a day and some times everyother day. Chickens generally only lay once a day.

I think it is possible to have a hen prone to laying doubles. I had a hen laying doubles. Thought I knew which one- needed to downsize for winter- sold 5-

.. Lost my double and another one laying biggies-

..

Just goes to show(if you have say 10 or more) unless you sit in the coop and gather each egg as it is laid, you only think you know which one is laying which. Who has time to do that.

I am out there a LOT, but not 24/7

I had a lady I work with tell me she was getting 6 to 7 a day out of 3 girls...thought that sounded kinda weird.

I am just happy to be getting some....finally!!

Our record day, so far, was yesterday with 17...

they are sooo good.

I got two from one hen the other day. Had to be because I had 20 hens..got 21 eggs and I collect 3 times a day.

i had two soft eggs one day from one of my girls, she is quite young and had just started, one plopped out then she walked around lookin a bit miserable for about 5mins, then this other one popped out, i think it should have been just 1 egg but it sort of split into two, somehow !? twins !

I have an Ameracauna that for the past week has laid 2 eggs per day for 3 days. She's the only one laying eggs, (I have only 3 hens) so I know it is her. She's laid double yolks 3 times.

My Dark Brahma hen who always lays eggs on the dog's bed laid two eggs one straight after the other a few weeks ago, but this hasn't happened since.
