My first two great finds! It is competitive to find good free and cheap stuff around here...

Chickens are becoming popular here, I just found out the retired couple next door is getting a few chickens and a couple sheep!

A free swingset... my chickens are going to have a colorful run!

There are some shorter pieces there I'm try to figure out how to use in my run, I'm thinking of building individual wire covered fence panels, rather than running wire over a framed run.

I am going tomorrow after work to pay for a portable coop and 2 hens!

I think the wire needs reinforcement. The two hens will live in here until the coop is finished and then we can use this to help transition the chicks.
Plus in the future it could be useful for chicks or introducing new birds to the flock, or even some meat birds next year!

We have 8 chicks coming at the end of April, and we are also working on converting a 10'x10' shed into a coop with a large attached run.

I've heard about this chicken math, I need to go buy some feed!

Sorry Jim! She did tell me that they had quite a few people interested, they held it for someone else and he got there and he decided it was too big for his truck, I was just lucky to be #2 on the list!

You can vouch for me about how hard it is to find good stuff around here, Vermonters are resourceful people! I'm getting pretty used to rejection on craigslist, LOL!

Excellent - I also just got a huge amount of free lumber from someone tearing down his deck. The wood is almost all 8 plus feet and in great condition. Got it off freecycle. Put a request on there for wanted - lumber, plywood, tarp, hardware cloth. Got the lumber anyway. Ended up buying a tarp for $5 at a garage sale. I'll probably end up paying for the plywood for the roof and hardware cloth. Bought a dog kennel for a run - that was $125 for a 13 x 7.5 x 6H. Have a gallon of paint leftover from when I painted my house/garage, so the coop will go with the garage - its going to set right next to it. Got tons of free shingles from freecycle. Just asked my handyman what he would charge to build the coop -we'll see. Good luck and post pics!

Awesome finds!!! Way to go!!! I definitely understand your excitement.

I'm addicted to finding free stuff, recycled stuff and stuff that is cheap or cost little of nothing. It's the only way to go. Finding stuff is a part time job for me. Everytime I call my friends and tell them that I got something for free, they always say that I need intervention and that they will call that show on tv so that they can come over to my house and help me with this addiction.

If someone can find something that is free or a good buy, I say get it. Times are too hard these days and we have to save every penny we get our hands on.

Keep up the good work.
