So Excited!

I am so excited, came home from church and checked the runs nesting boxes. Was really not expecting anything since they prefer to lay in the coop. Surprise! Four eggs. The bottom two I recognize as my olive egger's and my RIR's. The other two are from the first chicks I bought. I had bought 2 smokey pearls, 2 golden comets, and 2 isa browns. I am trying to figure out who is laying.

Congratulations. Hopefully you can figure out who the new layers are. Generally I catch them in the boxes, and that's how I find out.

Try looking at the vents. You cant tell which egg was laid by who from this method, but you can tell who is laying. If its tight and small and dry its a non layer, if its oval and stretched (moist looking to) they laid.

To figure out who laid what egg, you can always put some food dye in the vent for next time they lay, or watch them lay the egg directly.
