Geez after so much stressing, I actually witnessed one of my eggs hatching. It was fabulous! I found a dead chick last week laying on the ground and today I witnessed one coming out of it's shell. And I saw another already out! My silkies are mothering like crazy. Now there are two more but I think those have a least 5 more days to go. Now what I would like to know is will my silkies feed them? Or should I put some starter feed in the nesting box for them? The silkies are not their real mother cuz my rhode island red won't sit on her eggs. Anyone have any advice for me on feeding them? WHOOP WHOOP!

You will need to put starter feed in for them. Mother hens don't feed chicks as such. They will show them where to get the feed and water but they don't actually feed them.
