Wow is it easy to clean up and it drains real well. Yesterday we had the first real rain we've had since we built the coop and I am so glad we got the sand. The hens were wet and the hay in the nest box got pretty damp (plus it was poopied on) so I just replaced the hay in the nest box and scooped the sand. I think I would hate having hay throughout the coop. Also I'll add that our coop is a converted bunny hutch so it is raised which is another reason I went with sand. Deep litter method wouldn't work out in our coop. I am so glad I read about sand on the coop floor here and had to sing it's praises so the next person getting ready to join in the chicken fun can learn how fantastic sand is.
