I’m expecting my first flock in April. We will begin construction on our coop in a couple of weeks. I’m pretty sure I will start out with about six chicks, and then see how it goes from there. I’m excited to get to learn from all you experienced chicken farmers!
 
Hi! Welcome! I think maybe you should build a coop for 12 chickens. Chicken math is real! :D It's great that you are planning ahead and building the coop first, and coming here where you can learn about everything chicken! Check out the Articles. You can find a lot of coop ideas there and a learning center for everything from raising them, feeding them and handling any unusual thing that comes up.

Welcome! Not all here are experienced....some, like me, are newbies....here to learn and read and ask questions!! I still have a lot to learn but I can tell you there is no better place to go to increase your chicken knowledge. Folks here and friendly and willing to share their expertise! I'm sure you will like it here so pull up a chair and make yourself at home.... We're so glad you decided to join us!!
