So I finally found a vet with ties to Cornell that sees chickens... and then the state contacted me to test for AI!

6 birds currently have respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing, wheezing, some have clear nasal discharge). Four of the six developed vent gleet and laid a soft shelled or thin shelled egg preceding the onset of symptoms. The sickest bird and first to become ill has a swollen eye, has foul smelling poop, and is jerking her neck in a circular motion now.

I have treated with Tylosin and saw a little improvement in some, but no change in the 2 sicker birds. The state came to test my flock today and has promised to help me figure this out with a vet from Cornell. I thought this was probably MG initially, but the smelly one seems more like Coryza and I have a chick with retarded growth. It looks like it's 2 days old and it is over a month old. It's hatch mates look like giants beside it, but it acts healthy and keeps up with the big chicks. There were others like her, but they all passed away in the first few weeks due to failure to thrive. At first I thought it was due to the mite issue I discovered with this hatch, but now I'm wondering if it's Coryza.

I'm glad I will finally have some answers this week, but sad that the diagnosis, no matter which disease it is, will not be good news. My heart is broken and I will never forgive myself if I have to put them all down. Lesson learned and I hope others will learn from my mistake. I will never add breeder birds again without a 6 panel test. If they are show quality birds, then they are likely at all the shows and fairs and a much higher risk to add to your flock. Even a proper quarantine may not reveal GM if they are asymptomatic carriers. You won't find out until your birds get stressed (mites) & start showing symptoms.

All states that do testing for respiratory diseases do it for AI I believe. Hopefully, it is not AI, but they should be able to determine what is going on. MG can be common in some backyard flocks, and some vets believe it is everywhere. Coryza is one I would cull for. Cornell is probably in the top 3 for state poultry vet labs, if not number one. Please update your thread with more info later.

The test results came back negative for AI & MG/ positive for MS & Infectious Bronchitis. I have so many baby chicks piling up right now. Don't know what to do. I have never culled a bird before and don't know if I can do it, but some of them have to go (roosters for sure).

I am so sorry :hugs❤️‍🩹 This is so unfair for any bird owner to go through. I am praying for grace and swift recoveries for you and your flock.
