So I got 3 new ducks today...

Went to an auction and bought just 3 ducks. A Rouen drake, another one that I forget the name, and a white Muscovy. Upon getting the boxes out of the van, the Muscovy escapes and flies away!

What are the odds of me ever seeing her again?

What bad luck..So sorry your first duck experience ended up like this. Stranger things have happened...You may see her again...But probably not. I do hope she didnt go too far- and you have a better chance of getting her home again.

So I never saw that duck again, I did go over to our dirty scum pond to look every day to see if maybe she had taken up residence there (yuck) but never saw her. Out of the blue this morning, she is walking across the yard...

We'll never be able to catch her or anything, but at least she's hangin around I guess.

Make sure she's knows there are good snacks to be had. Maybe that will help persuade her to stick around

I would definitely suggest that if you are able to catch her that you clip her wings until she realizes that she's home.

Offer her snacks, just a little bit at a time. maybe leave a small bowl in the yard..you may eventually be able to coax her back into the pen. *Good luck vibes your way*

I brought a bowl of food over to the tree she stays under during the day, and it took her 2 days to eat it!! Maybe she didn't trust me. LOL

I was told that I should not invest in ducks because they are being outlawed as pets is that true?

Ducks are not being outlawed as pets. Muscovies are a concern, and there was a regulation recently enacted that restricts the breeding and sale of muscovies (there is a topic you can search for with the link to the regulation itself) for anything other than food.

No other breeds are being restricted.

It seems to me I read that the regulation is being reconsidered at this time.
