so i have a Q

i have two chicks about 1 month and just yesterday i saw fathers on there heads one has more then the other. they are not like polish. they lay flat down. there mother has no faters on her head and there father has no father on his head. and there head is like the polish. so i guess my Q is how could this happen ?
