We have 5 eggs incubating (obviously our first time) all 5 have the air sac and all 5 have a large blob inside. I do not see feet or the heart as I did in Silkiechickens awesome candling pics however I honestly don't know what I see. We are on day 15 and I am lost. The first few times we candled we were able to see the veins, now not so much. I am worried because 4 of our 5 are white eggs and I thought for sure I would be able to see better. Is the blob a good thing? Should I see movement at this point? please help.

The 2 times I have hatched previously all I could see is a "blob" I think that is due to the fact that all I used was a mini mag flashlight and that other people have fancy, much brighter lights tosee with so, good luck and happy hatching.

If you have a regular light, all you'll see is a blob, and really, after about day 14 or so, a blob is all you'll be able to see because the chick will start to fill up so much space it can't move much. Usually, if you see veining and growth past a week or so, you're good to go!

Happy hatching!

Awe thank you both very much.

Yes all I have is a small LED light.

Sounds like all five are doing fine. I had the same worries first time I set a bunch of eggs. I wasn't sure what I was looking for OR what I was looking at! On day 17 I candled and was like: OMG, there's just a huge blob in there, what's gone wrong, have they all died, have I killed them all, it's a disaster, I'm a baby killer, WAAAUUUGHHH!

... and then they hatched. LOL!

Its when you only see a very tiny blob at day 15 that you worry! If you have a big outdoor flashlight. Take a full roll of toilet paper and set it on top of the light. (You may need help) then hold the egg at the top of the tube. You may see better that way.

That's great advice, it sounds like she does need something to focus the light a bit more.
But this sounds like great news, them blobs are babies

Good luck

I used the outdoor flashlight and it worked much better. I have 4 white and 1 brown egg. On two of the white eggs I can see def movement. I marked them. On one there is just a pretty large blob and air sac could not see movement. One the other there is the blob and airsac and then there is stuff kind of floating around when I turned it. It looked to me like the white of the egg or something just flowing with the turn. Has anyone else had this? Normal? In the brown egg I could see the large air sac along with a few veins and then the blob however the blob does not fill the egg completely, it has a section the size of a dime that there is nothing except a small something toward the bottom of the egg. Ugh this is nerve racking. It is almost time for lock down and don't really want exploding eggs but I also don't want to toss viable eggs.

We need a nail biting emoticon!!!!
