Hello everyone!

I am new here, mostly looking for other "crazy chicken ladies" because I don't know too many in my social circles.

I have been keeping chickens on a large plot of land in the city for just over a year. Right now I have 11 birds--1 Salmon Faverolle, 2 Australorps (1 black, 1 blue), 1 Silver Wyandotte, 2 Americaunas (1 gray, one rust-colored), 1 gray Cochin, and 4 Copper Maran/Polish crosses. One of these is a rooster (shh!) but he is very quiet and absolutely gorgeous so I have no intentions of getting rid of him. Some of these I raised from day-old this spring and some I acquired as pullets.

The chickens have a huge field they like to roam in and get scraps from our 3 large gardens regularly. As far as I can tell they are spoiled rotten! I have learned a lot in the past year and, from what I can tell, will always need to learn more! But I love having chickens (mostly because I love eggs) but also because I love their personalities.

See you all around~

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm not a lady, but I am a crazy chicken person. :o) You have a very nice mixed flock. Australorps are my favorite standard breed. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds) and they are extremely hardy, calm and gentle (my children, and now my grandchildren, made lap pets of them), and excellent layers of large brown eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
