We’ve got moles. A lot of them. They keep digging around our coops, and I have no way to get rid of them. I’ve tried to flush them out with a garden hose, but was only able to catch one a few weeks ago. I have no way to get any gas or traps unless it’s somehow homemade. Any ideas to get rid of them?

My husband got some sonic mole repellant devices this summer.

They sort of worked. I moved them around as I saw the moles move.

The entire bottom of my coop and run are covered with hardware cloth, extending about six inches beyond the walls. No mole can get in.
Thanks! I’ll look at it. Our coops have stall mats on the floor, so moles can’t get in either, but it’s just pretty annoying having random mounds everywhere.

Moles happen because there's food for them, especially in sandy soil. The grubs of Japanese beetles, for example. There's an organic product that spread on the ground will kill those grubs, available at garden centers, Milky spore is what it's called. Not instant, but non-toxic, so safe.

'they say' although ive never tried it, that if you place a piece of juicy fruit gum near their dig they'll eat it and die .. always sounded iffy to me lol ... what i do is stalk them and ive rid my yard for the most part of them over time .. they usually get into 'digging mode' at certain times. it may be the moon i dunno, but they'll excavate in the early morning hours usually one mound followed by another next day closeby in a line of sorts .. if you figure out where theyre active you can watch from a window etc and catch them at work .. you'll see dirt getting pushed and kicked up at intervals of a minute or so .. they have a habit of taking a short 'rest' and laying out at the top of their mound as they push the dirt out for a few seconds .. this is your golden opportunity .. you need an 'accurate' gun and you need it pre-sighted at the distance you plan to shoot .. its a small target so i usually stalk in to about 10-15 feet and prefer to use my benjamin marauder pistol, that thing is dead accurateand quiet .. ive used a .22 mkII pistol im very familiar with several times to simply because i had it in my vehicle when i spotted them digging ... anyway, doesnt happen over-night, but over time i won the battle lol ...

I second the milky spore as mentioned by Folley's place It's safe and won't hurt chickens or other critters but is deadly for grubs. It just will take time but no grubs, no moles.
