I am currently feeding my week old chicks starter but also bought organic feed (no idea what brand) for once this bag is gone. After finding this forum I am not sure what to feed them. I did find a website to buy a "chicken garden" seeds to grow some stuff for them to munch on in their garden. I have also seen yogurt, seeds, cooked eggs etc. Is there a chart or something that would be helpful in figuring this out? Or can you just go with letting them eat what is in their "garden" and their food? Thanks.

You want to keep them on the starter until at least 15-20 weeks. The starter should be higher in protein so they have a good rate of growth. Organic is fine I use it myself. remember it is unmedicated so watch for cocci. If you give them any treats make sure they have chick grit (sand like in the bottom of a bird cage ). They really dont need treats when they are young If you feel you want to give them something try hardboiled egg. I chop it up shell and all and they love it. Just remember that they are babies with a delicate system. Chick starter is designed to be an all you need feed. Once they are older you can introduce them to treats. I never give chicks treats until they are much older. I dont have problems with pastybutt. Hope this helps its just my system of raising chicks. Micki
