So quail bark?

I still haven't heard 1 crow. They are 7 weeks old. But now I have 1 that squats, puffs it's chest out. It barks when I stick my hand in the cage. I can't say any other way. It makes a noise I have never heard. It makes this sound until I go away

I take it this is a hen? I have had hens do this too me too but strangely they all seem to be either Tuxedo or Rosetta!? they do this when they want you to go away, I don't know if I like it or hate it, it's quite endearing that they have the guts to try to make you go away

would love to see your quail, mine are just getting new house so I will be taking pics soon.

I thought males do the crowing.

I have a tuxedo, a pharaoh, and a Tibetan. They've been crowing for their first 2 days and now they stopped.

Maybe they are adapting to their new environment.

Males do the crowing, hens will make noise though, most of mine are doing more like a cooing noise
