Hi everyone. I am new to chicken keeping and have a few questions about coop litter and run floors. I live in Pinellas County and like all of you know in the summer it rains every single day here in Florida. I have read about a few different materials for runs and coops (i.e. deep little with pine shavings, sand, cut straw,) All the articles that I have read have been for northern climates and I am hoping to get some suggestions for proven materials and techniques from ya'll for our challenging weather. I have five 6 week old girls (fingers crossed). We are in an suburbia and they will have a run that is 10'x5'x6' all enclosed plus their coop (5'x3x3').

Sand wouldn't be bad for your climate. Pine shavings are hard to beat anywhere.
