I recently picked up a Red Frizzle roo, and considering pairing him with my White Cochin. (She already has a husband but she may end up having an affair soon Lol and he WONT be happy hes very protective and shes picky, BUTTTTT)

I have my white cochin I could give him, or some blue cochin x silkies (cochin with a crest) or some buff silkie hens or black silkie hen.

Hes got a couple green colored tail feathers, would that mean hes not pure red?

Would I get red splash's? With him and my white cochin?

Anyway preparing my pen set ups before spring.
Thanks xoxo

I think you do end up with splashes. There was a link on here somewhere that had an interactive website (red and white were the choices given). I was playing around with it some, but I didn't save the link.

I haven't looked into crossing white with red, but I don't think you'll end up with "splash" chicks. They may end up coming out with white as the base color with splotches of red and black in them (think calico cat). I don't think there is such a color as pure red, either. There is usually some kind of gene interaction that suppresses black.

I'll read up on this and try to come up with a better answer...

With the buff hens, they'll probaby come out either red or gold, or any shade in between, some probably with black.

With the blue, you'll probably end up with some kind of blue/red or black/red combinations.

With black, you'll probaby get black/red combinations, possibly birchen or silver. It's hard to say without knowing what the two have hidden.

I dont think my white has anything hidden, with her husband who is a white cochin roo, I have only got white from them. So i think that may be a good bet she is pure?

Ok whats the difference in Buff Red and Gold? Or maybe just Buff and Gold.

I have some what I call Buff Silkies, they are like a light orange color, some of them are darker then the others and some are really light like almost blonde.

Is there a picture easy to find of a GOLD bird?

Thanks!!
