... So who else here buys postal hatching eggs?

I will have to ask Kevin the postie to make sure he handles them properly this end and pray Royal Mail dont get up to their usual tricks of trashing stuff!!
We did have some okay hatch rates with previous mail bought eggs but I never knew if it was the eggs or the bator causing problems
I have the same problem of lack of available eggs down this end... and if they are available its about £3 ($5) an egg

There is a poultry auction about an hour away in about 3 weeks though that will be doing hatching eggs as well so i can see what i pick up there... but I have a bator now and i wanted to fill it!! I spent far too much on eggs for a first run though

I get results!

I like the bio-security feature of hatching from eggs as opposed to buying chicks or older. Plus the poor chicks aren't traumatized by handling. Of course you have no choice of sex with eggs...

Can't get chooks delivered easily in the UK as far as I am aware anyway! So its eggs orrrr driving a long way!!

Didnt manage to get hold of some blue silkies but got mixed silkies, lavander splash pekins and mixed pekin box. 6 of each!

well it depends on the hens, care of eggs before shipping, post office workers, time of year heat or cold, i have had 0 hatch to 70 percent hatch. right now i have 10 duck eggs all with movement that were shipped from new york to tenn. two had blood rings at day 7 started with 12. hatch day is the 26th. cant wait for my yankie ducks to hatch.....

I've bought eggs from the same state before and had good fertility rates with them but the hatch rates not so good, but now that I'm better at incubating I may try again to get some fresh genes in my stock. (Ha ha I've only been doing this for 2 years now and I'm already expanding the gene pool). I'm going to focus on d'uccles and Silkies, because they're both so sweet with fluffy feet! I just shipped 21 porcelain d'uccle eggs last tuesday to Iowa and I packed them like fort knox because I was afraid of the treatment. Plus I'm worried about the cold temps getting to them. I haven't heard back from my buyer yet to see how they fared. I think I broke even, because after all the bubble wrap and my two little boxes which I put inside a huge box I ended up spending about $22 for shipping because of the odd size and the delivery confirmation. If they break any of those eggs, it's because they TRIED or because they ran over them with the van! I'm anxious to find out how they fared.
