Good morning everyone! My chicks will be 6 weeks old on Wednesday, and they are definitely outgrowing the setup I have them in now....I want to move them outside to the coop, but I don't like that we are still getting such low temps at night (usually we are in the 50's by now at night...). Would they be ok if I take the brooder out as well? Should I take them out for the day, but bring them back in at night? I don't want them to get too cold...Thanks for any help/suggestions!

Give them a huddle box in the coop away from drafts with thick bedding in it. Picture a box on its side with the top flap hanging down and the sides and bottom flaps removed.
They'll be fine.
If it's any consolation I have 5 day old chicks in the maternity ward in the coop with their mother and it was 30F this morning. The family was happily scratching around in the bedding.

I will do that :) thanks!

Hey Fellow Ohioan! We're up near Cleveland and moved our girls (about the same age as yours) out on Friday for good - they are doing great and have had no issues with the temps.

We had them out in the coop during the day and took them in over night for a few days before moving them out for good due to spacing issues and so they would get use to the coop. We have a ton of predators in our area so we wanted to finish the run before letting them sleep out there to ensure "double protection" or else we would have moved them out for good earlier.

Awesome!! We are planning on moving them out there, but keep our inside setup up a few days in case they are too cold. Hopung to figure out a way to put our ring doorbell in the coop for a few days to kerp an eye on them as well.
