Soccer in the bator

How do yo prevent the early chicks from playing soccer with the other eggs? My last hatch I had 2 that piped, but died and I have a feeling it was because the got pushed over so the pip was down on the wire. Maybe it doesnt matter..... Just looking for advice for the eggs that are in the bator now.

You could hatch them in egg cartons. I usually do that, and it makes clean up much easier. I didn't this time though because all my cartons are full and I still have more eggs in a bucket!

Take the carton top off and cut inidividual egg holders, making sure you cut the sides down far enough for the chick to get out. This USUALLY helps, but I had a terrorist chick that knocked over everything last hatch.

To me, that is normal. They would get kicked around if they were in a nest. Sometimes I believe it gives the others incentive to hatch. I don't care for putting eggs in an egg carton only because with my luck, a hatchling will hurt it's legs stumble out of the egg carton. My only suggestion is that if it really bothers you about the eggs being knocked around is to make a nest like ring out of a towel.
