Socializing a Peacock

I am fairly new to owning a peacock and I have an India Blue male. He is by himself right now, no other birds. His pen is 16’x16’x10’ and I got some perches and whatnot for him. He has been decent so far, kinda scared of humans but he eats well, displays his tail, screams a decent amount, and could deal with me being in the pen for a little while. He does pace back and forth right by the wall of the pen sometimes though. However; this week something changed because he is super freaked out all the sudden. I tried to sit by him and he was running around the pen like crazy. I tried feeding him which usually calms him but it didn’t work. There was a wreck right next to our house a few days ago and I think that may have freaked him out (he doesn’t like loud noises). Or someone has been messing with him while we are gone.

My question is, how do you socialize with them? How do you make them feel more comfortable in your presence? I am currently building another 16’x16’ and will be adding some pigeons. Will they calm him down a bit or do I absolutely need to buy him a hen? Also, can peacocks and pigeons live together no problem or should I keep them separated like I am planning now?

Thanks in advanced for all the answers! I’ll get a pic up of him when I can.

I just go about my business in the pen and after awhile they get used to me. I don't try o be super buddy buddy with them though. I would never mix pigeons with peafowl. Peafowl are bullies and will likely kill or harass the pigeons.
