new, new, new to posting. Have been "visiting" for weeks, though. love the site.

we just sodded a portion of the yard and have sod scraps that i am hoping I can feed to the chicks-they are about 7 weeks old average (kind of mixed between 6 and 8) and are in a run-can't have them out because would be free chicken dinners- I am wondering if there would be too much fertilizer/weed killer stuff on the sod? or maybe if I left it out and watered it down for several days would that wash it off?

thx much!

Depends on the sod, but yes, if you water it down for a few days it'll be fine, water it good though, so in case anything is deep in the root system gets washed out. At that age they'll eat what they want off it.

Residues probably would wash out, but if it were me, I would just skip it...just to be safe. Let the chickies have something else.

thanks for input! I hate to waste stuff, so will water it down good for a while and then give small pieces at a time-hubby crosses his eyes at me and says "water the REAL sod!" guess I can do both as have two hoses
