Soft and small first egg

Hello. I have an RIR hen who is 3.5 months old. She layed her first egg today. But the egg is so small and very soft shell that it broke when I pressed it a little. Is it normal or should I make some changes in my coop or diet? And when the egg becomes normal ?

It is normal for a hen's first eggs to be a bit wonky, they should start normalizing in under a week.

And is the egg production low when hen starts? Because she is laying eggs with much time gap as compared to her breed egg laying rate

I would only become worried if this persists over a week, one thing to ask though, have you supplied them with oyster shell?

Nope nothing. Just giving the chicken layer feed

Give her more calcium to fix up the softness.
