Hello,

Last night when checking on birds before closing up the coup for the night I noticed an egg in the nesting box. Nothing unusuall about that. I reached in and grabbed it and to my surprise the shell was soft. It had the consistency of a water balloon. This was really unexpected. Has anyone else seen this in an egg before or know what might have caused it?

was it from a new layer? if so, she's just getting her plumbing working.

if not, and this is an "experienced" girl, you need to give her more calcium. oyster shells, ground egg shells, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.
