Soft eggs

My chickens don't like crushed oyster shells, but they LOVE crushed egg shells. I save all the egg shells from our eggs, dry them for a few days, then crush them and either feed them in a dish by itself or mix it into treats, like chopped up lettuce or chopped bread. They eat the egg shells like it's a treat!
Oh my gosh I haven't DONE this yet!! How fine do you crush them and thank you for that suggestion. I've read that but it hadn't dawned on me to try that for this - thank you!

I have a large mortar and pestle purchased during a trip to Haiti and use that to crush the eggshells. Prior to having that, I used whatever kitchen tool I thought appropriate for the job. I think the more fine the better, to a limit. You don't want eggshell powder - though I suppose if you have wet food (ex. I currently have carrot and beet pulp left over from juicing those vegetables for a drink) you could mix in even a powdered form of the eggshell (as in running it through the food processor - something I've considered, but never tried).
