Help! Some of my hens are laying soft or fragile eggs. The shells sometimes break just picking them up out of the nest I offer them free crushed oyster shell...is their something else I can give them to make their shells harder?

Here are some reasons behind soft-shelled eggs:

Genetics, early layers, or poor nutrition.

Genetics can't be fixed, but the other two are pretty simple.
For early layers, just wait a few weeks.
For nutrition, try offering scrambled eggs with finally ground shell in it. They won't mistake these for their own eggs and begin egg-eating, but they will get lots of protein, vitamins, and calcium.

Hope this helps. Best of luck!

How old are they?
What all are you feeding?
