I feed my chickens Layena mixed with some oyster shells. I also have a rabbit feeder on the side for free pecking of oyster shells. This afternoon I was out with my hens and then there was this commotion and I noticed 4 hens eating a soft shelled egg. Not sure where that came from. Like it just came out of the hen. Then, I have at times noticed in the morning on my poop board a soft egg. But I do have normal eggs. Not sure if I should change something up. Feed Layena only, or with the oyster shell? Or should I have some flock raiser? Any suggestions or thoughts?

Do not put oyster shell in with the feed, keep it separate.

New layers can be quite goofy acting, they don't know what they are doing at first and can be confused and anxious, it can take up to a month or so before they get it all figured out. Putting some fake eggs or golf balls in the nest might help show them where to lay. They may scratch around in the nests for weeks before laying. Meanwhile, eggs everywhere, some of them can be rather funky looking, soft or thin shelled, huge double yolked eggs.

If they are young chickens they are still learning. The feed u are feeding is good. Just give them some time to mature.

Hope this helps!
