So Priscilla (Sapphire Gem), 18ish weeks layed a soft shelled egg in Thurstand nothing since then. Has seen her rearranging the nest boxes but that’s about it. Is she ok?

Does she seem ok in herself? Eating, drinking and looks ok?
If so I would suggest she is just getting her egg laying machines in full working order. Sometimes it can take a little while for them to get up & running correctly.

LOL- thank you! She seems to be doing everything else normally. I am afraid she is going to lay and they will eat it before I can get to it! They are the soft shelled one like crazy!

This heat is affecting lots of birds laying, just give her time to get back to work .

They are not machines

Mine layed a normal egg, then two days later laid two soft shelled eggs, then four days later another soft shell. After two weeks of laying, she seems to be settling into a pattern now with small regular eggs every morning. The others were random...some at night, some in evening.

So far I haven't had any issue with them eating the regular eggs, but they have eaten several soft shelled ones. I believe one of mine laid a soft shell last night, as I found just a membrane left when I cleaned their coop this morning (which would be a first egg for one of them, since my only other layer had her egg at 9 a.m.)

Thank you very much! That’s is reassuring!

It can take up to a month or so before they get it all figured out....
.... meanwhile, eggs everywhere, some of them can be rather funky looking, soft or thin shelled, huge double yolked eggs.
