Hello, I have 5 New Hampshire Red Hens that I raised from chicks. They just started laying eggs the beginning of August. One of my hens is struggling to get it right. Every other morning I find (two) soft shelled eggs on the poop deck (dropping board under their roost). I have been feeding them layer feed Ace High and Oysters shells for a month now. How long will she be doing this? The others are laying nice big brown eggs. Any advice greatly welcomed for I am a new chicken owner.

It can take them different amounts of time to work it all out, sometimes it can take months. Generally eggs without shells come out before they are formed and it isn't a calcium issue.
