I have four, 2 year old red layers and get 3-4 eggs per day. Tonight is the first night that one of the hens is roosting on a branch in the run while the others roost in the coop as usual. I have been letting them free range for a few hours when I get home from work and they always make their way back to the roost by dusk. Granted its been very hot but the coop is well ventilated and the run is shaded. I did notice a few mice in the deep litter the other day. A few months back one of the hens was acting strange and it was a bound rubbery egg that she passed. Not sure if its the same hen or not. Any thoughts?
