As you probably know from previous post, I'm totally new to raising ducks. Ive got a few questions, if anyone could be so kind to try n' answer them for me. First off, how long till ducks are fully feathered? and how long till they are fully grown (breeding age, laying ect.)? and are there any of the more domestic duck breeds that I can treat like muscoveys, where you give em' a pond and they take care of themselves and will hatch and raise the next generation? That is all I can think of for now, I'm sure I'll come up with more in the near future though, lol. Thanks

Ducks usually get their feathers at about 7-8 weeks,Egg laying about 7months sometimes sooner sometimes later.
As for Muscovey's have no idea I have none,But my Runners pretty much look after themselves.

mallards or Ductch Hookbills, I would think, could take care of themselves better than most. Keep in mind that muscovies can roost, which protects them from predators. Definitely choose a flying breed, if that's your intent.

If you are interested in eggs, though, you'll want to pen them up at night.
