It's funny, I have 5 chicks, one of them Beakers is so friendly, she runs up to me and literally attacks me until I pick her up. While one of my silkies (she's a beautiful buff), Intuite, absolutely HATES people. She'll try to fly out of your arms even when you are holding on to her, and she'll peck at your hands like crazy!
This doesn't really relate, but do you have a really funny chicken story? Here's mine.....
So, I was raising them in our house in the city (so there were a lot of nice things, ya know not at all like our ranch), and they were living in a rubbermaid bin in a room of the house. My boyfriend apparently left the door of "their" room open overnight, and we woke up to find that Beakers had flown out of the brooder, and had escaped from the room and was running around the living room! We had to throughly scrub the floor (we also have a cat and rabbits and didn't want them getting sick from the chicken poop). It was funny to see her running around, but as soon as she she saw us she ran back into "her" room and jumped back in the brooder, almost like she knew she was being naughty
That is so funny! Especially that she ran back into her room when she got caught!
I had one Buff pullet named Nugget and if I left the doors and windows open on hot days she would come in the back door and wander through the house and then jump out the window at the other end of the house. Like it was a shortcut to the other side of the yard or something. I also have a Lavender rooster who has screaming contests with the squirrels in the trees. He's got a pretty creepy sounding scream/growl that he does. My roommate calls it his "Jurrasic park" voice.
