Some Questions About Grit!

I was wondering....how exactly to you give the grit?? Do you:

A)Mix it in with their food

B)Put it in a separate feeder

C)Sprinkle it on the ground

My chicks don't need it yet 'cause I'm told it's in the starter/grower their eating now ....but was wondering for the future! Thanks!

What I did is after they were old enough to start eating a few treats, I started using a little parakeet grit on the ground with the treats. After a few days, I put it in a feeder and that seemed to work well.
By the time they were five weeks old, I bought chick grit from feed store (just a little bigger than parakeet grit, but smaller than regular grit) and keep that in a feeder for them.
