Ok here is my day just got home from work really excited to see how many more bitties had hatched today while I was at work. They are GONE all of them the ones that hatched yesterday and the ones that were trying to get out yesterday . I can't figure it out, the food bowl is gone and there was signs of snake poop. I know the snake would eat the chicks but would not take the bowl, and a racoon would take the bowl and the chicks, but that wouldn't explain the poop.

I have 4 eggs left to protect., and I am vexed. What can I do to keep something from getting in the coop at night and still the rest? I know that from now on I will take any newly hatched chicks in and put the cage with the drop light until they are big enough to defend themselves.

I came home once to a five footer snake with three of my duckling in his tummy. He is now rotting on the burn pile.

Can you bring them inside? But them off the ground? Place double rat wire around the cage?

I had the snake thing happen about 10 yrs ago and I killed him.

They are off the ground the laying boxes are almost 3 ft off the ground. You bet I can bring them in and will, I'm not letting whatever get the rest. These are our first bitties of the year to be born here and in the new coop. I had thought about putting Electric wire around the laying box except for the entrance the hens use, and put some other kind of trap there.

These are mine and my baby boy's babies can let anything take the rest.
