Something got Vandy last night :(

I had a chicken about three months old that I named Vandy because she was gold and black, the colors of one of our local colleges. I had had her in with her brothers but since they are deciding they needed to fight over her, I put her in with my three remaining RIR's since I THOUGHT I had secured thier chain link kennel by putting a cover ontop and wire around the outside. Whatever got her got her through the door area. All I found were feathers. The RIR's wouldnt let her roost with her so she was probably near the door since she would try to get out whenever I came in or just trying to get back to her brothers. I have a trap set up but need to go get some marshmellows to see if its a racoon. I suspect a fox, though.

So sorry for your loss. I imagine it was a coon.

I lost 5 chicks in the last 48 hours. My fault... didn't secure them at night and I'm suspecting a cat.

It makes you sad.

I think what sucks the most is the chickens that are getting killed are the ones I hatched myself. I have a trap, just need to get marshmellows.
