I just got my first batch of chics yesterday and have been out to check on the chicks every 3 or 4 hours or so. Tonight I noticed something on the butt of one of those chicks and was thinking maybe the chick had 'pasty butt'. After running his rear under lukewarm water I noticed that it was not pasty butt after all. I dont know what it is. There is a protrusion of something dried up and meaty looking about 1/8 in below his vent and I dont know what to do. If I didnt know better I would think it was an umbilical cord. Please someone, help me. I am new at this and dont want him to suffer. Thanks!
