I have never used automatic doors, I'd be worried somebody would get locked out at night or it didn't shut properly and something gets in at night. I need a visual on all doors, windows and chickens at bedtime. :D But some folks love them! We all do things differently.

I am so with you on this....I need to see it and have it doubled checked by a family member. Being a chicken keeper is offensive if you don't want to chase being defensive.
 
Welcome to BYC! I've never used one, so I couldn't tell you anything about the drafts.
To add in a few cents of opinions about doors I think there's a fair few folks to wait until well after sunset to lower the door in order to make sure the chickens don't get stuck outside... And if you have the option a security camera doesn't hurt. That way you can check on your flock remotely. I would also hazard a suggestion that if you don't like early mornings have the door scheduled to open first thing in the morning to let them out but then go out in the evening and lock them up yourself. But that depends on your reasons for why you'd want an automatic door in the first place I suppose. :)
