Soon to be new chicken parents

Hi everyone, new to the site and my family and I will be getting some chickens in the next couple weeks. With the help of a good friend I will have a chicken coup that he is passing on to me. Here’s a pic for viewing pleasure

Thanks next step need to find chickens , my friend said he might be giving me some fertilized eggs

That is a nice gift!
We are always tweaking our coops. You are in a good starting place having a coop BEFORE rapidly growing peeps.
You know we will want chicken pictures too right?

Make sure you clean and disinfect any used coops to be sure there is no transmission of disease to the new babies!

Good start. How many birds are you planning for? Do you have plans for adding ventilation? Or some more run space? That coop seems approximately sized for about 4 standard birds max. Even less in the run. And ventilation for none!

Not trying to be a downer. Good for you for getting the coop, and hopefully qaddressing these issues, before acquiring animals!

I may be building a couple of the hoop house chicken things I saw on you tube. We have a big enough yard to keep it interesting. Still dead in the middle of a city but far enough from most prying eyes

Hi good thing about me is I build fence for a living, I’m sure that when I’m finished with my creative mind the chickens will love it ! After I clean it up good ill Have a spot for them to enjoy pretty fast. Thanks for your insight!
