You're going to have tons of fun... I have a pretty big garden for city living, and having the chooks running around out there is really awesome, it's something I never really knew before getting my birds. Even the chooks I saw at the farm when I was a kid were in large indoor coops.

Welcome to Texas too. You may have noticed it is a little warm around these parts. Make sure you coop is well ventilated. My old coop is mostly farm fence. My new coop is mostly hardware cloth. I have tarps for shade and weather protection and plastic sheet to keep rain off the chickens when we actually have rain.
