Hi everyone i have 8 egg's under a broody hen, iv looked today and 1 has a hole in! how longuntill the rest will make a hole and i can hear the little chick im sooo excited, i dont need to help the chick i just have to wait a see, thats right yer?? xx

Hi, happy for you and I hope all goes well. How long before the other eggs hatch depends on when they were started incubating. If they were all put under the hen at the same time they should all hatch over the next 48 hours or so, but I have had hatchings to last over three days. The chicks don't usually need any help getting out of the shells and it is best to leave the hen alone so she won't move around much. The more she tends to move the greater the chance of a chick getting stepped on and crushed. I have an article on Bukisa on hatching and raising baby chicks if you want to read it. Just let the mom do all the work. They should hatch within two days if one is starting to hatch now. Good Luck!
