I was checking for mites and saw this red swollen spot on my bird. it felt warm so i'm assuming some type of infection. what might it be? what should i do??

first pic is the spot, the second after i washed the feathers and they were wet.

Separate her in case it is contagious. Give her good food and water and some treats to keep her appetite up. Monitor the sore twice a day and she if there is any improvement or it gets worse. It might be an abcess that needs to be drained or just like the other 'poster' said it could just be irritation from feather picking.

How is her energy level? Where is the sore located?

the sore is on her rear below the vent area. she is my mouthiest hen and still squawks alot but they all are losing weight and laying less. i'm checking for parasites, did a first dose of worm medicine and added pigeon grit to diet. just wondered if this was another problem.

I they are all loosing weight and laying less you have a problem. Are they eating the same amount as before but still loosing weight? What do their poops look like? Any information would be helpful.

The area is much much larger now -- the size of a grapefruit!!!. poops were normal two days ago but then she stopped eating (except for a small small bite of egg) and poop was watery and very small amount.

The skin is light red and warm. the mass feels watery and squishy rather than firm.

i live in the city and tried calling for a vet that works with birds but they don't see chickens. don't know how/where to get medical attention.

this is my favorite bird. i don't know what to do. help help help
