I was just wondering if this was a good setup for a tegu. It is 6 inches wide and 8 inches wide, I measured it again today. He is a Colombian tegu, and he likes to bask in the sun, he has some shade, and he will get a hide soon. He has bricks around the sides, and dirt over chicken wire in the middle so he can dig. He likes to bask in the sun. He has a giant water dish, and he is hand fed, but he still runs, and doesn’t like to be held a lot, so how do I stop that fear? His name is Cinder, and I think he is a male. I am very sorry to be posting about him, I know it’s off topic, and thanks for the replies!

Whoa! I was just reading up on them, and while he’s only going to be fifteen pounds, he can grow to five feet. Surely that’s with the tail, but I don’t know. It also says they are carnivores, ruthless scavengers, and jump 3’ vertically. :th
They need time to be tamed, but it can be done after a while.

He is getting there, he is a gold tegu, so he will only get 3 to 3 1/2 ft, right now he’s 1 1/2 ft.

Do you mean 6 feet by 8 feet? ;)
Can they dig out?
What do you feed it?

Not off topic in 'other pets' forum.
So no need to be sorry.

I hope you keep this thread updated...it's kind of fascinating.

Thanks, I feed him brown anoles that I catch and keep for a few days (pretty much quarantining). Also, I feed him eggs, fruits, and frogs. And he has wire under where the dirt is so he can’t get out.
