Hi gues. My Bantam Silkie has been broody for a very long time. I have tried absolutely everything and continue to remove her eggs but she is very set on being broody. Well its snowing here in NY now and she is sleeping in the nesting box alone so im going out daily to force her to eat and then at night placing her onto the roost myself so she can be snuggled in. I have no clue if she stays all night. Her belly is raw and she is getting thin. I am unsure what else more you do except bring her inside for the winter because im scared she is going to die from starvation or the cold. I feel like an idiot for not being able to help.

Generally, they're done being broody about the time their imaginary eggs would hatch, in around three weeks.

Because being needlessly broody is unhealthy for them, we break them by putting them in a wire dog kennel. They get a narrow board to stand on so that they aren't standing on wires and so there is airflow underneath of them. In four to five days they're broke.

Thank you! And then just plop her back out with the other girls and they’ll accept her back in?

Id bring her in tonight if I have to but will she adjust to the climate when brought back outside?
