Okay so this is probably a strange question, but have any of y'all put up some sort of "sound barrier" around your coop/run area? Our girls are singing their songs to the world, and I don't think our neighbors are loving it. Their coop/run is next to our house, away from all the neighbors' fences. Since our backyard is pretty empty, the sound is just amplified and nothing absorbs it... so I was thinking about planting something around it. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very thankful! We just need something to help block out some of the noise before our neighbors start craving chicken 🍗

How about a nice flowering hedge? What grows rampantly in your climate? If I needed something around here I'd use a certain kind of readily-available pink azalea that can grow rooftop high in 5 years and if I were still in western PA where I grew up I could expect the same sort of results from either forsythia or lilac.

Soft surfaces absorb sound so that would be better than a hard wall -- though it would take a while to become established.

Oh I was definitely thinking more plant directed! I’m in southeast Texas and we actually have azaleas in our front yard haha but since they’re toxic I’ll probably need to find something else for the backyard. But yes a flowering hedge sounds beautiful!
