Hey everyone! This is my first go around with sour crop. I noticed this morning my nearly 6 month old Brahma/Australorp rooster's crop looked larger than it was supposed to be. I picked him up and noticed it felt squishy and full of water. I separated him away from the flock so he couldn't eat. I enlisted my sister in law to help me drain the crop by tilting him down for two seconds then letting him catch his breath. A lot of smelly foody liquid stuff came out and his crop felt nearly empty then I gave him a syringe (about a tsp) of acv water mixture. I gave him a tiny bit of yogurt covered boiled egg because he seemed hungry and was pecking at the straw. I can't bring him in and since it's cold out I feel bad separating him. Since I ration feed my chickens anyways I blocked him in the coop and was going to let him back into the run after the others finish their food and I remove it. I was thinking I'd just dose with more acv throughout the day but I'm curious if I should also try to drain the crop some more or just dose? Also how often do I feed him and what do I feed him? He seems hungry but I know everything should be in moderation and I don't want to compact his crop in any way. Thank you all for the help!
