Hello!

My chicken, which i'm not entirely sure of the breed (she was rescued from a KFC farm looks kinda like a white star) she's pretty huge and heavy, she is over 8 weeks old, maybe is now 14 weeks? < again i can't say. I don't know how old she was when we got her.

A few days ago she was barfing up water, or drooling into her food. She seems to have stopped this but I've noticed a large lump on her breast larger than a golf ball. Its kinda squishy. I'm not sure if I should take her to the vet or if it is maybe just undigested food, but it seems to be on the side rather than the center of her breast.

She's been eating and drinking fine/lots. And her poop looks what i think is normal... (i'm new to chicken owning)

I've added a scoop of probiotic yogurt to her feed in case that helps, but i'm not really sure what else to do.

I'll try adding a photograph of the lump - it's pretty big.

if that didn't work here's the direct link http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1845720&id=500278977

sounds like her crop.
the crop sits near the bottom of the neck on top of the breast, slightly to the hen's right.
some hens are little piggies and overeat and fill the crop..
could be nothing to worry about..

but to make sure..
she needs to go without food all night till you can check the crop in the morning before she eats.
if you have to separate her from the coop, make sure she is warm and safe.
it should feel empty or flat..
check for lumps, grainy feeling and sour odor.
is it still full? is it like a water balloon?
post back with what you find.

also describe her droppings..color and consistency.

If it doesn't go down after a while try massaging it after you give her some bread soaked in veg or olive oil. It could be impacted and this will help her to pass whatever is stuck.
