Hello to all,

I am Guy and I live in Cade, LA. That is about 30 miles as the crow flies from the Gulf of Mexico.

I have had backyard chickens for 2 years now and really enjoy them. I have a flock of 16 and purposely chose several different breeds. I have RIR, Barred Rocks, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Blue Red laced Wyandottes, Black Australorp, Light Brahma, Welsummer, Americauan, and a Bantam. I enjoy the eggs and they are fun to raise.

Already had my share of issues with hawks and even a bobcat, but I took care of the bobcat when he let his guard down ;). My concern now is roundworms. I have noticed a drop in egg production the last few weeks, and noticed today a worm in some poop.

I would love to hear you guys' suggestions on deworming the flock. I really want to avoid having to discard eggs for weeks, but I can't let the worms remain either. I read about Flubenvet, and it sounds very effective, with no withdrawal on egg consumption, but can't find any in USA. If anyone has found it, I would love for you to share how to get it.

I look forward to hearing from everyone and will post some pics of my girls when I have some time to set this profile up. I am proud of my Welsummer hen, she is gorgeous!

I picked up some Rooster Booster wormer and started them on it this weekend. Read some complaints that it is hard/brittle and hens peck around the wormer. I broke it into crumbles and they are eating it well. I like the fact that it is an antibiotic and there is no withdrawal on egg consumption. I'll keep posting the progress.

THanks!
