Southern Indiana New Chicken Owner

Hello from Southern Indiana. Kids want chickens. Looking at Plymouth Rocks, as it seems these are friendly and easy with kids. Any suggestions? Will be looking at 4-5 chicks and a 4 x 8 house with a good size run for them. New to chickens, but looks to be interesting. This site will help alot.
