I currently have 12 chickens and 2 ducks. My coop is 4 x 14 and my run is about 300 ft. of fence that is pretty much in a circle. A friend would like to get rid of 6 chickens and 4 ducks. Can I get away with the small coop when the run is much bigger than necessary?

4 sq ft per standard, 2 per bantam. Run should be 10sgft per standard. Ducks, i am not sure~

So you can have 30 birds in that run but the coop 14 in the coop. You need shelter for all your birds from weather and they usually sleep in it as well. Might add a small coop in the run and you should be good~

i think i did that right

Seems like an awful lot to fit in that coop? But the run is more than big enough. I had 200 ft of fencing that butted up to a deck area....probably close in size to your 300 ft circle. Squared up you are looking at thousands of square feet of run space.

Any way you can make a separate duck house? I think you could fit 18 chickens in your coop (3 sq ft each), and the ducks are messy enough to be happier separately anyways....

Just my $0.02
