I plan to add a few more girls to our flock, and I am leaning toward Specked Sussex, New Hampshire Reds, and Wyandottes. I am curious what your experiences have been with these breeds, in particular personality and egg production. Thanks!

I could never get just one of each, I am thinking of two of each! I have a hard time buying chickens in moderation.

I am splitting an order with a few other people, and they have asked me to choose the breeds for them as well. It feels like being a kid in a candy store, but wanting to make sure I pick something my friends will like, too. I suppose that is my primary reason for asking about characteristics, I want to do a little research as to personal experiences with them.

We currently have Black Jersey Giants, Delawares, EEs, Cochins, and Welsummers. We enjoy a colorful flock and sell eggs to friends and neighbors, so we like good producers. We use lights and our winters are mild here, so ours haven't slowed down laying at all.
